Paid with Glass of Milk

PAID WITH GLASS OF MILK

Oneday a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way through school, found he had only one thin dime left, and he was hungry.

He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door.

Instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water! . She thought he looked hungry so brought him a large glass of milk. He drank it so slowly, and then asked, How much do I owe you?`

You don`t owe me anything,` she replied. `Mother has taught us never to accept pay for a kindness.`

He said ... `Then I thank you from my heart.`

As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt stronger physically, but his faith in God and man was strong also. He had been ready to give up and quit.

Many years later that same young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were baffled. They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in specialists to study her rare disease.

Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for the consultation. When he heard the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes.

Immediately he rose and went down the hall of the hospital to her room

Dressed in his doctor`s gown he went in to see her. He recognized her at once. He went back to the consultation room determined to do his best to save her life. From that day he gave special attention to her case.

After a long struggle, the battle was won.

Dr. Kelly requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval. He looked at it, then wrote something on the edge, and the bill was sent to her room. She feared to open it, for she was sure it would take the rest of her life to pay for it all. Finally she looked, and something caught her attention on the side of the bill. She read these words ...

`Paid in full with one glass of milk`

(Signed) Dr. Howard Kelly.

Tears of joy flooded her eyes as her happy heart prayed: `Thank You, God, that Your love has spread broad through human hearts and hands.`

There`s a saying which goes something like this: “The good deed you do today may benefit you or someone you love at the least expected time. If you never see the deed again at least you will have made the world a better place - And, after all, isn`t that what life is all about

An Interesting management case stuey

A good Management case study

The administrative building of a corporate company, stnding in the middle of the city is a proud possession for their employees. They used to lavishly light it up from outside. It was feast to outlookers.

The managing director of the company while signing the vochure for paining the building, doubted why the same job is taken up for every six months. The subodinates told him that it is due to bird droppings.

"why our building only?" he queried. it was found that by evening birds were attracted due to the trees and insects. Proposals were made and budgets were prepared for cutting of tree branches and pest control for insects. but the executive had the same doubt. why insects exceptionally prefer our building?"

After a through enquiry it was found that the building was being lighted up half an hour before the entire city was illumanated, with an over enthusiasm to show it to the public. By ordering the staff to dealy it by one hour, the executives could save lakhs of rupees to the organization. A lesson thought in the management course but also applicable in real life situations.

Two Inspirational Winners

TWO INSPIRATIONAL WINNERS
Olympics is a life time achivement. Lawrence lemieux stopped racing in a yacht race to help a fellow competitor who was in trouble. The whole world was watching. His priority of safety for other people's lives was greater than his desire to win. Even though he did not win the race, he was a winner. He won the hearts of millions of people. He was honoured by kings and queens around the world because he kept the spirit of Olympics alive.
Reuben Gonzales when he was in the final match of the racquet ball tournament. This was an important event and he was playing for the wolrd title. In his final game at match point, Gonzales played a super shot to save the point. The referee and the lineman both confirmed that the shot was good and he was decided as the wineer. But Gonzales after a little pause and hesitation, turned back to shake his opponent's hand and said " The shot was faulty". As a result he lost the serve and evantally the match.
Everyone was stunned. Who could imagine that a player with everything official in his favour, with winning in hs pocket, would disqualtiy himself and lose. When asked why he replied " It was the only thing to do in the order to maintain my integrity". He lost the match but still he is a winner

Wonders of the world

WONDERS OF THE WORLD (A GREAT STORY)

A teacher was encouraging her students to identify the seven wornders of the world. Watching a girl unable to pen them, she gave some clues to the girl.

Hinting about the great wall of china she said "Think of a wall that stood courageously against the hail storms and hurricanes" and continued describing panama canal "Irrespective of seasons it flow without stop against all odds".

The girl thought for a while and wrote. The teacher said. "Another wonder is a tower that slightly bent, but never accepts defeat. It leans but never falls". And then she gave about Taj Mahal. "People say it glitters in moon light. But if you have insight, you can see its glitter with your heart." The girl wrote. About Pyramids she pointed out "it is a monument, a symbol of concentration, science and hard work that time could never destory".

The teacher has been beckoned the girl to check what she wrote. The shy kid was hesitant, walked slowly abd showed the teacher her answers " Mahatma Gandhi .... Martin Luther King .... Mother Theresa ... Helen keller ... Albert Einstein"

Preflexed first, the teacher recovered to announce those names to other students. After a brief silence, the class room vibrated with claps and applauds !!!!

An Indian Negotiating with God

AN INDIAN NEGOTIATING WITH GOD
God came and asked me for a wish, I told GOD "Let all my friends be healthy and happy forever!" \
GOD said: But for 4 days only!

I said: Yes, let them be a Spring Day, Summer Day, Autumn Day, and Winter Day.

GOD said: 3 days...

I said: Yes, Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.

GOD said: No, 2 days!

I said: Yes, a Bright Day (Daytime) and Dark Day (Night-time).

GOD said: No, just 1 day!

I said: Yes!

GOD asked: Which day?

I said: Every Day in the living years of all my friends!

GOD laughed, and said: You INDIANS know how to negotiate. But since you are praying and asking happiness for your friends, I can't refuse. I love everyone who thinks of others first, so don't you worry.

Attuide makes the difference

Attuide makes the difference

During a momentous battle, a Japanese general decided to attack even though his army was greatly outnumbered. He was confident they would win, but his men were filled with doubt. On the way to the battle, they stopped at a religious shrine. After praying with the men, the general took out a coin and said, "I shall now toss this coin. If it is heads, we shall win. If tails, we shall lose. Destiny will now reveal itself."

He threw the coin into the air and all watched intently as it landed. It was heads. The soldiers were so overjoyed and filled with confidence that they vigorously attacked the enemy and were victorious.

After the battle, a lieutenant remarked to the general, "No one can change destiny."

"Quite right," the general replied as he showed the lieutenant the coin, which had heads on both sides.

Calm Up your Mind

CALM UP YOUR MIND
There once was a farmer who discovered that he had lost his watch in the barn. It was no ordinary watch because it had sentimental value for him. After searching high and low among the hay for a long while; he gave up and enlisted the help of a group of children playing outside the barn. He promised them that the person who found it would be rewarded.
Hearing this, the children hurried inside the barn, went through and around the entire stack of hay but still could not find the watch.
Just when the farmer was about to give up looking for his watch, a little boy went up to him and asked to be given another chance. The farmer looked at him and thought, "Why not? After all, this kid looks sincere enough." So the farmer sent the little boy back in the barn.
After a while the little boy came out with the watch in his hand! The farmer was both happy and surprised and so he asked the boy how he succeeded where the rest had failed.
The boy replied, "I did nothing but sit on the ground and listen. In the silence, I heard the ticking of the watch and just looked for it in that direction."
Moral: A peaceful mind can think better than a worked up mind. Allow a few minutes of silence to your mind everyday, and see, how sharply it helps you to set your life the way you expect it to be...!
